Frequently Asked Questions
Is counselling covered by insurance?
Many extended insurance plans cover the cost of social work and psychotherapy services. We recommend contacting your insurance provider to determine your service coverage. Professional services with the designation of Master of Social Work (MSW), Registered Social Worker (RSW), and Registered Psychotherapist (RP) may be claimed as a medical expense on your income taxes. Tarah is a Registered Social Worker in the Province of Ontario, holds a Master of Social Work degree and is a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
Do you offer crisis or emergency services?
Support With Healing does not offer crisis or emergency services. If you are in crisis, please dial 9-8-8 (National Suicide Crisis Line – call or text) or visit your nearest emergency department.
Do you offer in-person sessions?
Yes, we offer in-person counselling sessions located at our comfortable and confidential office located in downtown Burlington, Ontario. We also offer convenient online virtual and telephone sessions, as well as home visits, where sessions can take place in the comfort of your own home.
How often do I need to schedule sessions?
The answer to this is different for everyone as each individual and situation they are living with, is unique. After your initial session with your counsellor, you’ll have a clearer sense of whether counselling feels like the right next step for you. When it comes to scheduling sessions, counselling at regular intervals can help build a routine and allows for building on previous sessions. Regular contact with your counsellor helps build a stronger therapeutic relationship.
What is the age range of clients you work with?
We provide counselling for adults, ages 18 years and above.
